Weekly online sessions to bring you home to yourself – mind, body and beyond.

Join me on Tuesday evenings, 8pm - 9.15pm (GMT), for weekly self-care in the form of Somatic Yoga, Meditative Inquiry, Integrative Yoga Nidra, and a ‘Drift Off’ Relaxing Sound-bath.

If you love the feeling that follows a deeply relaxing and restorative yoga class, but dread having to get up afterwards, drive home and recalibrate all over again before you’re finally able to switch off and sleep, Sanctuary is for you.

Join me from the comfort of your own home: to move, breathe, metabolise day-to-day challenges, and be guided into a profoundly restful state, with the option to roll straight into bed and drift off to a deeply soothing live sound-bath.

If you’re new to me, or to these practices, here are some ‘broad brushstrokes’ to depict each modality…

  • Somatic Yoga is an approach to yoga movement that allows the body to lead. This means that we move from the ‘inside out’ – listening within and then moving in conversation with the body and sensation, rather than pushing the body into shapes, or striving for ‘perfect alignment’, or an externalised ideal form. It’s not about what it looks like or ‘getting it right’ in any way, but rather about unlocking, freeing and feeling.

    In Somatic Yoga we are allowing the body to unwind, dissolve tension and express itself more organically, through inquiry and through building a richer interoceptive (feeling) relationship with the body. This can be a very therapeutic form of movement for anyone healing body image, working with pain, injury or trauma, and can have a hypnotically relaxing and freeing effect on both body and mind.

    If you have attended my BAY Yoga St Monday evening Gentle Flow class, or my Tring Yoga Studio Wednesday Lunchtime Yoga class, both of these are strongly influenced by a Somatic approach.

  • Meditative Inquiry harnesses the quiet, stillness and spaciousness offered by meditation to allow insights and new perspectives to arise and serve as an inner compass. Instead of tasking ourselves to simply ‘let go (of thought, emotion, sensation)’, as many mindfulness oriented practices encourage, we welcome and engage with our direct experience in simple yet profound ways that can change perspective, promote self-compassion, bring relief, greater equanimity, and ‘light-bulb’ moments of new understanding that can really change how we choose to handle things.

  • Yoga Nidra is a guided Meditation practice that takes you into a deeply restful liminal state between sleep and waking (known as the hypnagogic state), where you are able to experience profound yet constructive relaxation, and – should you wish to – engage with, and find freedom from, subconsciously held patterns and challenges.

    There is a lot of Yoga Nidra out there these days and it often takes the format of a script read aloud from a handbook, from the internet or these days, generated by AI. There are differing perspectives on this: my own is that the human dimension is where meaning and embodiment truly reside, and in that metaphysical sense, there is no way to replace that.

    As a Certified Integrative Restoration Teacher (www.irest.org) I have undergone 6 years of supervised study within this field to be able to deliver - unprompted - a research-backed protocol approved by the US Military as an intervention for PTSD, Depression and various other everyday mental health concerns.

  • Each session will close with a live, dreamy Drift-off Sound-bath played on Crystal Singing Bowls and an evolving array of sound healing instruments. These Sound-baths will be at least 15 minutes each, following the Integrative Yoga Nidra – and your space to completely release and let go towards sleep. I will close the call so that you need not interact with your device again, and can instead simply drift off from a state of profound rest and relaxation.

Feel your way into a new, more easeful relationship with yourself – body, mind and spirit – through real and game-changing somatic practices, meditative inquiries and the experience of being guided into inhabiting the fuller spectrum of you.

Sanctuary is where your Self becomes your peace. Sanctuary is where your own body becomes your home and safe haven and where your breath becomes your anchor. Sanctuary is where sound sings you home. In Sanctuary, your intuition becomes your compass, sensation your North Star; and your yearning – for calm, freedom, expression, peace – becomes your map. In Sanctuary you can learn to trust your own presence, and that therein lies your ‘healing’ – which is your wholeness. In Sanctuary, you belong.

Rest back into depth, and breadth of facilitation

Drawing on my breadth and depth of experience – which includes nearly 20 years of yoga practice and 9+ years teaching, with extensive yoga nidra specialisation, cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy, Gabor Maté’s Compassionate Inquiry approach, and the last few years exploring Ontological Psychosomatic Integration and sound – these sessions are designed to help you reset and regulate your nervous system, learn how to truly rest deeply and surrender to the body’s inherently restorative wisdom.

This is why Sanctuary is intentionally designed as a membership, to help us all live into a more deeply peaceful, resourced, mentally, emotionally and physically integrated sense of longterm wellbeing, as part of a community of kindred spirits.

I want to create and hold a space that draws us all to the mat – which is to say, to the inner Sanctuary of Self – with a sense of belonging and commitment, true self-care and nurturance, rather than with a chaotic, fragmented, ‘pick-and-mix’, ‘dip-in, dip-out’ approach.
